Three suspects arrested for unlicensed firearm and dagga

WESTERN CAPE – An intelligence driven operation conducted by the members attached to Khayelitsha Crime Prevention Unit (CPU), led to the seizure of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Khayelitsha on Tuesday, 04 February 2020.

Members were busy conducting crime preventions patrols at Site C in Khayelitsha, when they spotted two males who looked very nervous when they saw the police vehicle approached them. Upon searching a bag that was carried by one of the suspects, members found a 9mm Norinco pistol with ammunition.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested is expected to make a court appearance soon on charges of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.

In an unrelated occurrence, the members of Villiersdorp CPU acted on information about dagga that was kept in a house in West Side, Goniwe Park in Villiersdorp yesterday, 04 February 2020. The members drove to the mentioned address and entered the premises where a further search was conducted and it led in the seizure of 92 kilograms of dagga including two possible stolen laptops were also confiscated . The value of confiscated items is yet to be determined.

A 26-year-old suspect was arrested and he is expected to appear in the Caledon Magistrates’ for possession of dagga and presumed stolen property.
