Three suspects arrested in separate incidents for possession of drugs

UPINGTON – Three men were arrested in separate cases by members of Upington Crime Prevention Unit for possession of drugs on Thursday, 22 August 2019.

This followed after the police received information about an alleged drug deal and after following up on the information received, they discovered Tik to the value of R6500 that was found stashed inside the side mirror of the vehicle of one of the suspects.

Consequently during the same shift, the members also arrested two male suspects for possession of dagga and mandrax tablets to the value of R7500. All three suspects will soon appear before the Magistrate’s Court of Upington. The two cases are unrelated.

The station commander of Upington SAPS, Brigadier Sampie Koopman said “this shows that the criminals are intensifying their methods, therefore we should also enhance our methods of policing in order to stabilize and normalise crime.”
