HARRISMITH – Three suspects, Xolani Hlongwane (30), Sakhile Hlongwane (33) and Khulekani Dlamini (27) from Bergville in KwaZulu-Natal will appear in Harrismith Magistrate court on Wednesday the 03 March 2021 on the alleged murder of Samkelo Maswazi Vilakazi (26) whose body was found with a bullet wound on the left cheek on the R714 road outside Harrismith on the 22 February 2021 at about 22:00.
The trio already appeared in the Bergville Magistrate court on Monday, 01 March 2021 for possession of illegal firearm and possession of suspected stolen property after they were arrested last week for being in possession of a firearm and the deceased’s vehicle.
They were then transferred to Harrismith where they’ll appear on alleged murder charge.
Maswazi’s body was found on the 22 February 2021 at about 22:00 by a passerby who noticed the body of a male person lying on road with only t shirt and short trouser. He was found with a gunshot wound and it preliminary investigation discovered that the deceased’ vehicle, a white Nissan Tiida had been hijacked.
The suspects might be linked to other crimes in Harrismith area.
