Three unlicensed firearms, ammunition confiscated and arrest made in Vredenburg

WESTERN CAPE – The Crime Prevention Unit attached to Vredenburg SAPS followed up on vital information received yesterday, 21 January 2020 and pounced on a residence where they arrested a 31-year-old suspect for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. It is reported that the Unit was following information provided and on arrival in Swart Street they discovered the following:

1X Norinco Star

1X hand gun

1X. 38 revolver

5 X .38 special rounds of ammunition

9X shotgun rounds of ammunition

1X magazine

The suspect has been charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. He will appear in court in Vredenburg on Thursday, 23 January 2020.

Western Cape SAPS management has commended the efforts of the members for removing illegal firearms that cause serious harm to so many people.
