Transport on body of Taxify driver found in burnt vehicle

Department of Transport statement on the discovery of the body of a Taxify driver in burnt vehicle

The Department of Transport is saddened the news of the gruesome discovery of the body of a Taxify driver in a torched vehicle in Sunnyside on Thursday.

It is alleged that the deceased was shoved into the boot of his car and taken to an open field in Sunnyside where the vehicle was set alight.

The Department condemns this inhumane deed in the strongest terms and calls upon law enforcement services to leave no stone unturned in finding and prosecuting the perpetrators.

We are confident that the South African Police Service (SAPS) and other law enforcement agencies will get to the bottom of this matter, establish the motive behind the attack and bring those responsible to book.

The Department would like to express its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased.
