Vryheid: Twelve people have died, with 38 others sustaining injuries in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on the R34 Matatani road between Vryheid and Ulundi in KwaZulu-Natal at around midnight. According to South African Government News Agency, KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service paramedics responded to the scene, where they provided immediate medical attention to the victims. Of the injured, 10 patients sustained critical injuries, 22 suffered serious injuries, and six sustained minor injuries, as reported by Arrive Alive on Monday. A multi-service emergency response team worked to stabilize all patients before transporting them to nearby medical facilities for further treatment. Nine occupants were declared dead at the scene, having sustained fatal injuries before emergency services arrived. Three critically injured patients later died in the hospital, despite intensive efforts by paramedics and medical staff.
