Two arrested during Operation Basadi in Kinkelbos

A joint operation between SAPS, Provincial Traffic and the Department of Transport was conducted yesterday in the form of a roadblock on the N2 at Kinkelbos. The roadblock also supported Woman’s Day as the majority of the members at the roadblock were females.

The operation, named Basadi, focused on illegal firearms, stolen goods, stock theft and road traffic act compliance.

During the operation a 41-year-old male was arrested for drunken driving, while another 38-year-old male was arrested for the possession of Mandrax. A bag containing 99 Mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of about R5000 was found in his vehicle.

Another 14 fines were issued in terms of the Road Traffic Act to the value of R10 200.

The two arrested persons will be appearing in the Alexandria Magistrates Court today.
