Two arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm

CENTANE – Centane Police arrested two men aged 23 and 27 for possession of unlicensed firearm namely a pistol. It is alleged that the two suspects attempted to rob people at Gqunqe Village, Centane with the firearm on Saturday, 25 May 2019 at about 19h00.

Community members apprehended the suspects and informed Centane Police. Police arrived and arrested the two suspects. The firearm had no ammunition. Both suspects will appear before the Centane Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 27 May 2019 on a charge of possession of unlicensed firearm.

Butterworth Cluster Commander, Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu thanked the members of the community of Gqunqe Village, Centane for their assistance in the fight against crime.
