Two male suspects arrested for dealing in drugs, Swartkops

SWARTKOPS – Two suspects were arrested for dealing in drugs (mandrax and tik) in Swartkops yesterday afternoon, 29 July 2019.

This followed after the first 22-year-old suspect was arrested at 12:00 during a routine police checkpoint on the N10 between Port Elizabeth and Paterson. He had a substantial amount of cash in his possession and on interviewing the suspect, he led police to the second suspect where a drug deal was about to take place.

The 22-year-old was taking a lift in a truck to Truckers Inn on the R335 in Swartkops area. On route he was stopped by police on the N10 where he then gave in and told police where the deal was about to take place.

At about 13:15 police found the white Toyota bakkie at Truckers Inn and upon searching the 54-year-old driver and bakkie, confiscated 550 mandrax tablets and 4 grams of tik. The estimated street value of the drugs are R40 000.

Both suspects were arrested and charged with dealing in drugs. They will be appearing before the Motherwell Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
