Two men in court for possession of firearms following a murder

DURBAN : the community members of Ezinyosi in Nkandla gathered and entered the house of Fihlokwakhe “Nono” Dludla (52) who was suspected of burglary and theft in the area.
The community entered Nono’s house and he was not found. Upon entering, they discovered a lot of stolen property from the house. Most of the stolen property was identified by the owners. The community proceeded to where Nono was hiding where he was severely assaulted. As he tried to flee from the community, he was allegedly shot by the suspects. Nono’s body was found by police in the bushes with assault and gunshot wounds.
A case of murder was opened for investigation by Nkandla SAPS. On 06 May 2020, the team of detectives from Nkandla followed up information about the suspects involved in the murder. Two suspects were then traced and arrested. The suspects were also found in possession of two unlicensed firearms and four ammunition suspected to be used in the commission of murder. The suspects are appearing today in the Nkandla Magistrates’ Court for charges of murder and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula commended the police officers for the arrest and the recovery of unlicensed firearms. “We are appealing to community members not to take law into their own hands. They must report all the criminal related incidents to the police,” he said.
