Two police officials in court for corruption

PRETORIA – Two police officers attached to the Crime Prevention Unit of the South African Police Service in the Durban North area, appeared in the Durban Magistrates’ Court on 01 March 2021 for a charge of corruption.

Sergeant Nonkuthalo Fodo (42) and Constable Bokang Wisema Ramabele (34) allegedly demanded R600 gratification in order to release the victim who had stolen a cellphone and later returned it the lawful owner who decided not to lay criminal charges against him on the 05 March 2020.

The matter was reported to the local police and the matter was referred to the Hawks for further investigation after the victim had paid R400 for his release.

The duo was on the 25 February 2021 issued with court summons to appear before court on the 01 March 2021. They are expected to be back in the same court on the 07 April 2021.
