Two suspects apprehended for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition

WESTERN CAPE – Our efforts to remove unlicensed firearms from the communities are yielding good results. Police attached to Steenberg SAPS arrested a 42-year-old man last night in Shepard way at about 19:15. The members were busy conducting crime prevention patrol when they noticed a doubtful man. Upon searching him they found him to be in possession of an unlicensed firearm with ammunition.

In an unrelated matter today at about 06:50, police arrested a 30-year-old suspect who was found in possession of unlicensed CZ 99 pistol with ammunition. The observant members continued with patrols when they saw a suspect in Duwaal Court, Lavender Hill and pursued him. The suspect fled on foot and was shortly arrested.

Both suspects are expected to make a court appearance in Wynberg Magistrate Court once charged for possession of unlicensed firearms.
