Two suspects arrested in Vanrhynsdorp with drugs valued at R1.9 million

The vigilance of members attached to the Provincial Detectives landed two suspects behind bars for being in possession of drugs valued at more than R1.9 million in Vanrhynsdorp earlier today. While doing duty in the area, the members noticed a suspicious vehicle which they later pulled over for further investigation, with the assistance of the local K9 unit.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 22 000 mandrax tablets and 4.2 kg of heroin. Once charged, the two suspects, both aged 55 are due to make a court appearance in Vredendal. The Provincial Commissioner of the Western Cape police, Lt Gen KE Jula expressed his appreciation towards his members for the arrest, and removing a considerable quantity of drugs from the streets of this province.
