Two suspects due in court today on a charge of possession of unlicensed firearms

Western Cape: Our endeavours to ensure that suspects are brought to book led to the arrest of two men aged 33 and 34 on Monday morning on a charge of possession of unlicensed firearms. The two suspects are due to make a court appearance today in Bellville to face the charge against them.

Members of the Public Order Policing were in the vicinity of Silversand and Abadare Streets Delft when they responded to shots being fired. The getaway vehicle, a VW Polo was spotted and pursued. One suspect managed to evade his arrest, while his two accomplices were arrested in possession of 9mm pistols. The third suspect is being sought. It was discovered that a 28-year-old man was killed in a shooting incident and we are in the process to establish if the two suspects were responsible for the murder.

The Provincial Commissioner of the Western Cape, Lt Gen KE Jula commended his members for their swift response and warned criminals that we will use all our resources to disarm them.
