Ulundi sexual predators sent to jail

DURBAN On 21 February 2020, the Ulundi Regional Court sentenced Busani Msimango (36) and Nkosinathi Mbuyisa (42) to 20 years imprisonment for each count of rape. Their sentence came after their case of rape was finalised at court and they were given a befitting sentence. They were also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

It is alleged on 1 April 2018 just after midnight, a 26-year-old woman attended a traditional ceremony at Mphothi area in Ulundi when she was raped by the known men who fled the scene after the incident. A case of rape was registered at Ulundi SAPS and it was transferred to the Ulundi Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit. Two accused were traced and arrested by the detectives. They were tried in court until they were sentenced.

This sentence will send a strong message to the would-be women abusers who take advantage of the vulnerable women and victimize them, said the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula.
