Unlicensed firearm and ammunition seized in Kraaifontein

WESTERN CAPE Our efforts to seize unlicensed firearms in the province led to the arrest of an 18yearold male after he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Cheraldene Court, Scottsdene in Kraaifontein yesterday, 29 January 2020, at about 12:30.

The alert members of Kraaifontein police were conducting patrols in the area when they were informed about an unknown male who was riding a bicycle in Nathaniel Street carrying a firearm. Further investigation to trace a suspect was conducted and he was spotted in the same area. The police officials approached him and he jumped off the bicycle and fled on foot to evade his arrest. The members pursued the suspect, and during the chase he dropped an object, that was discovered as a CZ5 pistol containing rounds of ammunition including a cellphone.

The suspect was arrested and detained and he is expected to appear in the Blue downs Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
