KIMBERLEY – Several intelligence driven operations across the Northern Cape Province have seen more than 12 drug suspects behind bars during Vala Konke operations over the past weekend.
The Highway Patrol, K9, Crime Intelligence and Visible Policing units at different stations followed up on information and pounced on alleged drug dealers.
Police arrested four males for possession of dagga with an estimated street value of R26 000-00 in Pabalelo, Upington.
In Hopetown police raided a house and seized 295 Mandrax and dagga.
The drugs are worth R20 000 and a 22-year-old male was arrested.
One male was arrested in Kuruman with Tik and dagga worth R21 751-00.
Police cleaned up the streets and arrested several others for riotous behaviour and drunkenness.
SAPS also had several other disruptive actions and arrested three suspects for drug dealing in Danielskuil worth about R2500-00.
In two separate incidents in Postmasburg one suspect was arrested in Newtown and another in White City for dealing in drugs. The dagga and mandrax seized are worth R12 000-00.
Kuruman Stock Theft Unit with the assistance of K9 Unit and Highway Patrol and Visible Policing units also arrested a suspect with six stolen goat carcasses, presumed stolen.
He was also found with 13 goat heads after 22 goats were stolen from a property in Kuruman recently.
The police continues unabatedly with the clean-up operations to ensure the province is safe and secure during the festive season and beyond. More boots will be on the ground this festive period and beyond to enhance police visibility.
