Vanwyksvlei trio to appear in court for stock theft

KIMBERLEY – Three suspects are expected to appear in the Vanwyksvlei Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 22 August 2022, on charges of stock theft, house breaking and theft subsequent to be found in possession meat products.

The trio is believed to have stolen sheep from one of the local farms and slaughtered it. The Station Commander of the Vanwyksvlei police was contacted by a local farmer regarding stock theft, where sheep were allegedly stolen and slaughtered.

Members were immediately activated and patrolled the road between Vanwyksvlei and Kenhardt.

The suspects were spotted 10 km outside of Vanwyksvlei, carrying bags stuffed with meat products, including animal feed and clothing. Upon noticing the police, the suspects dropped the bags and fled on foot. The members confiscated the bags and pursued the suspects. One suspect was arrested immediately, while his accomplices were arrested later on Friday, 19 August 2022 and Saturday, 20 August 2022 respectively.
