PORT ELIZABETH – The Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit (Gang Investigation) are looking for a 22-year-old suspect wanted for a murder and attempted murder case which took place on 09 January 2020, in Martin Street in Gelvandale.
It is alleged that on the mentioned date at about 12:20, a 47-year-old male was chased by three males who shot at him. He ran into a house in Martin Street and shut the door. The suspects entered through the back door and opened fire inside the house. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to his upper body while Renique Witbooi (25) sustained a gunshot wound in her stomach and passed away in hospital. The 10-year-old child did not sustain any injuries.
A case of murder and attempted murder was opened. SAPS Gelvandale members arrested two suspects on also on warrant of arrests on Friday, 31 January 2020 and on Monday, 3 February 2020, respectively in the Gelvandale area. Earl August (22) and Jonathan Hector (23) appeared in the Port Elizabeth magistrates’ court on Monday, 03 February 2020, on charges of murder and attempted murder. The case is remanded to 10 February 2020 for a formal bail application.
The third suspect, Azaar Claasen (22) is evading police and is sought on a warrant of arrest.
