Weekend Operation O Kae Molao in Ekhuruleni

GAUTENG – Police Minister General Bheki Cele, Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Elias Mawela, Acting Deputy Provincial Commissioner Policing Major General Tommy Mthombeni, Ekurhuleni District Commissioner Major General Vincent Leshabane, Chief of Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department Isaac Mapiyeye and Gauteng Provincial Community Police Forum Board Secretary Pearl Manqele led weekend Operation O Kae Molao in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng.
The Minister and his entourage also visited roadblocks and liquor outlets to assess adherence to the Regulations on the last weekend of Level Two. Owners of the liquor outlets found to be operating after 22:00 were arrested for non-compliance.
When police arrived at one of the taverns in Thokoza after 22:00, the patrons and the owner locked themselves inside and not responding when police were knocking. Police had to break the padlock to gain entry. Several people were found inside. The owner of the tavern was arrested for not adhering to the regulations.
