Woman and her uncle in custody for murder

DURBAN detectives within the King Cetshwayo Task Team led an operation aimed at solving a murder case that occurred in March this year. The operation resulted in the arrest of two suspects aged 25 and 38.
It is alleged that on 08 March 2020 at 13:30, Velenkosini Mpungose (54) was found dead in his home at Umsenge Road, Nseleni township tied with cables on his hands and legs. He was allegedly strangled to death and his laptop was stolen. A case of murder was opened at Empangeni police station for investigation.
An extensive investigation led police to Kwambonambi where a 25-year-old female suspect was arrested and police proceeded to Macekane where a 38-year-old suspect was apprehended. Police also recovered the deceased’ laptop from one of the suspects. They are in custody at Empangeni police station. They will be charged for murder and will appear at the Empangeni Magistrates Court on 15 June 2020.
