NORTHERN CAPE – Calvinia Police in the Northern Cape made a major breakthrough after a male suspect was arrested with dagga worth more than R3 Million.<\/p>\n
On Friday, 26 July 2019 at about 11am the Calvinia Task Team, Crime Prevention Unit, Stock Theft Unit and K9 Unit members were busy with Safety Friday Operations and held a Vehicle Checkpoint (VCP) at a local Petrol Station in the Calvinia CBD.<\/p>\n
The Police stopped and searched a white mini-bus and found 65 bags of dagga stashed inside the vehicle. The approximate street value of the dagga is R3.2 million.<\/p>\n
The 50-year-old male was allegedly traveling from KwaZulu Natal en route to the Western Cape. Police also confiscated the vehicle the suspect was traveling with, as it was used in the commission of crime.<\/p>\n
The Provincial Commissioner for the Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Risimati Shivuri lauded the Calvinia SAPS members saying that this truly portrays that we are on a journey to a safer South Africa. Together we are creating a safe and secure environment, that is conducive for social and economic stability, supporting a better life for all.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
