Gauteng Department of Social Development (GDSD) hosted a service delivery blitz at Brandvlei Sports Grounds, West Rand last week Friday.<\/p>\n
The blitz was aimed at empowering community members’ with information on the department’s programmes and services.<\/p>\n
During the engagement, the community members were given information on how to access services on foster care, school social workers, bursaries, learnerships, internships, food parcels, dignity packs, school uniform, ECDs and funding of cooperatives amongst others.<\/p>\n
One of the attendees, Basie Mahuma (34) said, “I matriculated 14 years ago, and currently an employee as a Fitter at Class A Trading in Randfontein. I am grateful to GDSD for this opportunity to assist my fellow youth with information because lack of knowledge hampers one’s progress in communities. Youth unemployment is a challenge in our area and I strongly believe that through such community outreach programs we can achieve a lot”, he concluded.<\/p>\n
Community members were also afforded opportunity to have one on one session with social workers and their right to privacy was upheld.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
