PORT ELIZABETH – Police dog ‘Bentley’ exhibited his competent skills when he expertly followed a scent which enabled his handler to locate a firearm hidden in a yard in Didtloft Street in Bloemendal.<\/p>\n
It is alleged that on Saturday, 01 February 2020, at about 15:20, Anti-Gang Unit members received information of a firearm at the back of a house in Didtloft Street. Port Elizabeth K9 Unit, Flying Squad and Public Order Policing were immediately roped in to assist.<\/p>\n
The house was searched and within minutes after searching the back yard, ‘Bentley’ located the firearm hidden inside a wall. The .38 revolver (no serial number) and 6 rounds of ammunition was retrieved by his handler, Sergeant Wallace Kettledas. No arrest was made and an enquiry docket was opened.<\/p>\n
The firearm will be sent to ballistics for further analysis.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
