The City’s MyEstate mobile housing office will continue to visit various areas across the metro in upcoming months. Since its launch more than two years ago, this office-on-wheels has logged and responded to almost 15 000 service requests and queries from tenants of the City’s Council rental housing accommodation.<\/p>\n
The mobile office aims to bring the services of a traditional housing office closer to tenants who are living in the City’s rental units across the metro.<\/p>\n
This office renders various tenancy management services such as logging service requests on behalf of the tenants; assisting residents with rent relief applications; Housing Database queries and new applications; completing lease agreements; making arrangements for rental accounts in arrears as well as assisting with general enquiries.<\/p>\n
The City’s Human Settlements Directorate launched its office-on-wheels in December 2017 to bring services closer to tenants who are living in Council Rental Housing in areas where there is no conventional housing office nearby. The MyEstate mobile office has a monthly schedule of visits to various areas including Macassar, Mitchells Plain, Hangberg, Albow Gardens, Kensington, Langa, Bellville South, Mfuleni, Lotus River and Parkwood.<\/p>\n
‘The purpose of the MyEstate mobile housing office is to make the City’s services more accessible to its tenants. In light of this, our mobile office will be visiting a number of areas across the metro to bring service delivery right to their doorstep. Often tenants may not have the means to get to a municipal office for assistance.<\/p>\n
‘Seeing the tally of logged service requests increase, confirms that there is a need for this mobile office in our communities. This service plays an important role in the lives of our tenants as it gives them the opportunity to discuss their housing-related queries, be it linked to their rental accounts, service requests, or future housing opportunities, without them having to venture too far from their homes.<\/p>\n
‘We are very pleased to see that it is fulfilling its purpose of making services more accessible to the City’s tenants. The City’s Human Settlements Directorate would like to thank our tenants who have been making use of the MyEstate mobile office and the services that it offers.<\/p>\n
‘In the coming months, the City will continue to drive this mobile housing office directly to our tenants so they can be educated and informed about housing matters and be able to access services almost on their doorstep,’ said Councillor Booi.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
