UITENHAGE – In a\ndetermined effort to curb fraud and corruption activities, the police nabbed a\nmale traffic officer and two administration clerks during an intelligence\ndriven operation conducted in the early hours of Tuesday, 24 March 2020, at\nKirkwood Traffic Department in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In collaboration with\nthe National Department of Transport, Crime Intelligence Unit members arrested\nthe three suspects aged between 32 and 46 in Uitenhage. According to the\npreliminary investigation, the arrested officials had been involved in\nfraudulent issuing of learners’ and drivers’ licences to applicants. The period\nwithin which the alleged fraudulent activities had been taking place has not\nyet been determined. An audit will be conducted to establish the depths of\nthese activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cases ranging from\nFraud, Forgery and Corruption have been registered for a further investigation.\nMore arrests may not be ruled out. All the arrested suspects are currently in\npolice custody and are expected to appear in Uitenhage Magistrate\u2019s Court\ntoday, 24 March 2020 on the stated charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
