POTCHEFSTROOM – In an\neffort to remove illegal firearms from the wrong hands, an intelligence driven\noperation by Boitekong SAPS Visible Policing led to the arrest of two suspects\nfor possession of unlicensed firearm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is alleged that on\nFriday, 27 March 2020 at about 19:50, police operationalised a tip-off received\nabout an individual illegally possessing a firearm. As a result, the suspect\u2019s\nvehicle with two occupants was stopped near Sunrise Clinic. Upon searching the\nvehicle, police found a .38 special revolver loaded with seven live rounds\nhidden in the vehicle. The suspects were arrested and detained after they\nfailed to give a satisfactory account of the possession of the firearm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspects, aged 21\nand 33 respectively are expected to appear before the Rustenburg Magistrates\u2019\nCourt on Monday, 30 March 2020 on a charge of possession of unlicensed firearm.\nInvestigation into the matter continues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
