PARKTOWN – More than\nfive hundred and seventy two suspects have been arrested across Gauteng during\nthis latest Operation O Kae Molao on Thursday 02 April 2020, led by Gauteng\nProvincial Commissioner Lt General Elias Mawela and the District Commissioners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Detective raids and\ntracing of wanted suspects resulted 572 arrested for various crimes: Sedibeng\n(39) where some of the wanted suspects were linked to serious and violence\ncrimes; Johannesburg (110); Ekurhuleni (193); Tshwane (188) and West Rand (42)\nfor various crimes ranging from murder, rape, hijacking, possession of stolen\nmotor vehicles, theft, kidnapping, business robbery and other serious and\nviolent crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Amongst the arrested\nsuspects, 95 were wanted for gender based violence and one wanted for crimes\nagainst children as well as crimes such as murder, malicious damage to\nproperty, assault and domestic violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
More than 20 suspects\nwere arrested for possession of dagga while three other suspects were arrested\nfor being dealing in drugs in Hilbrow and more drugs were seized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
More dagga were\nconfiscated during the operations at one of the roadblocks in Sedibeng and\nTshwane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
More vehicles were\ndiscontinued while AARTO fines amounting to thousands of rands were also issued\nat the roadblocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the West Rand\nDistrict, parallel operations saw police conducting roads block in the West\nRand precincts where a total of 4 suspects were arrested in addition to the 42\narrested during the detective raids for possession of unlicensed firearms and\nammunition as well as dagga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All arrested suspects\nare expected to appear before the respective courts in the province on Monday,\n06 April 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gauteng Provincial\nCommissioner of police, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela, send a word of\nappreciation to all members of the SAPS, Gauteng Traffic Police, and all Metro\nPolice Departments, as well as other stakeholders in the law enforcement who\ncontinues working tirelessly on Operation O Kae Molao.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
