POLOKWANE – Pursuant to the recent release of the National Crime Statistics for the third quarter of 2020 \/2021 financial year by The Minister of Police, General Bheki Cele (MP), the Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, yesterday, 31 March 2021 presented the Provincial Crime Statistics for the said quarter at Seshego Police Station outside the City of Polokwane.<\/p>\n
The Provincial Commissioner commenced by welcoming everyone present and mentioned that the crime report is an analysis during which the Country underwent stage 1 and 3 of the disaster management phase and this transition had a drastic effect and influence on how the police conducted business. Nevertheless, Police take cognizance of the fact that crime is not a unitary and a predictable phenomenon. That means, flactuation in crime will always exit. It is only in working together with our communities who in return, must allow the Police to do their job in order for more perpetrators to face the full might of the law.<\/p>\n
In his reflection of the statistics, General Ledwaba then proceeded and unpacked the crime picture for the period between October and December 2020.<\/p>\n
Provincial Head of Crime Registar Brigadier Nnyana Molema outlined a PowerPoint presentation of the Crime Statistics.<\/p>\n
In terms of the presentation, the province has managed to indicate a decrease of 15,7 % in property related crimes and 3,2% in other serious crimes<\/p>\n
The crime statistics were delivered in the presence of Department of Transport and Community Safety, the Deputy Provincial Commissioner responsible for Policing Major General Jan Scheepers, the Deputy Provincial Commissioner responsible for Corporate Services Major General Christine Moralakadi, Deputy Provincial Commissioner responsible for Crime Detection Major General Samuel Manala, Provincial Heads, District Commissioners, the Community Police Forum and members from media house.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
