The guide is a handy tool for locals and tourists looking to explore Cape Town, irrespective of their budget, and is part of our aim to make tourism more accessible while also showcasing businesses in the industry have to offer. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Put on your sneakers and enjoy a free walking tour in Cape Town\u2019s central business district or pack a basket for a picnic in Green Point Urban Park. Indulge in Cape Town\u2019s best milkshake and hotdog at Wembley Roadhouse in Athlone, get your art fix at Langa\u2019s Cultural Precinct, or sip on some craft beers and gin in Hout Bay. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve been lucky enough to enjoy many of these experiences, and I can tell you they\u2019re all fantastic! <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
In this way, we are helping to diversify our tourism landscape by promoting a wider array of products and attractions throughout the city. This in turn breaks the perception that tourism is centred around certain parts of Cape Town and is perhaps too expensive. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
As we all know, Cape Town is a rich mixture of diverse cultures, with experiences spanning a variety of themes including food, entertainment, heritage, nature and culture. Whether you\u2019re travelling solo, with a partner, with family or a group of friends, there\u2019s something for everyone. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Together with our partners, the City is pulling out all the stops to support and strengthen our tourism sector. Tourism is a driver of employment and economic prosperity, accounting for one in 10 jobs worldwide and delivering one in five of all new jobs created in 2017, according to the World Travel and Tourism Council. <\/p>\n
I\u2019m happy to report that preliminary figures point to a good season for tourism in the metro with Cape Town International Airport processing up to 30 000 passengers every day. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
My team and I are committed to growing these figures even further by connecting Cape Town to more destinations around the world. At the same time, we will maintain our efforts to remove barriers that constrain the industry, such as continuing to push for a remote worker visa and implementing open skies agreements. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
