{"id":5178,"date":"2016-06-10T09:31:01","date_gmt":"2016-06-10T09:31:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southafricajournal.com\/?p=5178"},"modified":"2016-06-11T09:41:41","modified_gmt":"2016-06-11T09:41:41","slug":"dirco-and-the-gift-of-the-givers-make-a-donation-to-cyclone-hit-madagascar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southafricajournal.com\/dirco-and-the-gift-of-the-givers-make-a-donation-to-cyclone-hit-madagascar\/","title":{"rendered":"DIRCO and the Gift of the Givers make a donation to cyclone-hit Madagascar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following an urgent appeal by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Madagascar to respond to the emergency situation fomented by the cyclone \u201cChedza\u201d and the on-going floods since January 2015, the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) has partnered with the Gift of the Givers Foundation to provide humanitarian assistance to Madagascar.<\/p>\n<p>The project is funded by the African Renaissance Fund (ARF), an important tool in the pursuit of South Africa\u2019s foreign policy objectives, particularly the renewal of the African Continent.<\/p>\n<p>The value of the humanitarian assistance amounts to R7 million which comprises of eight containers of clothing, blankets, food items, detergents and hygiene packs.<\/p>\n<p>The consignment will be received in Madagascar by the South African Ambassador, H.E.
