President Jacob Zuma has in terms of section 4 of the Disaster Management Act, 2002, established the Intergovernmental Committee on Disaster Management (ICDM) comprising relevant Cabinet Members and provincial Members of Executive Councils involved in disaster management as well as members of municipal Councils selected by the South African Local Government Association.<\/P>
<\/P>
The ICDM will advise and make recommendations to Cabinet with regard to issues relating to disaster management and on the establishment of a national framework for disaster management aimed at ensuring, amongst others, an integrated and uniform approach to disaster management in South Africa by all national, provincial and municipal organs of state, statutory functionaries, non-governmental institutions involved in disaster management, the private sector, communities and individuals.<\/P>

The Intergovernmental Committee on Disaster Management is comprised of the following:<\/P>

5. Minister of Energy, Ms Tina Joemat-Pettersson <\/P>
