\nWINDHOEK: The Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that women are secure, respected, and valued in a society plagued by gender-based violence (GBV).<\/p>\n
This follows recent reports of women who died at the hands of GBV.<\/p>\n
PDM Women’s League Acting Secretary-General, Christine Izaacks, in a media statement on Wednesday said over the past three months, 18 women were brutally murdered, 11 of whom fell victim to the hands of their romantic partners.<\/p>\n
She said that: ‘PDM works hard to prevent Namibia from becoming a shelter for those who commit acts of violence against women,’ adding that investigating and prosecuting perpetrators of GBV should be the Namibian Police Force’s (NamPol) top priority to ensure that the victims and their families receive justice.<\/p>\n
Isaacks stressed that the epidemic of violence against women should not continue unchecked and urged that all stakeholders obliged to social welfare, as well as the business community, must collaborate in a coordinated effor
