Yebei's Burial Next Week, Says His Family

The CID has confirmed the body at Moi Hospital in Voi is that of ICC witness Meshack Yebei.
Head of Serious Crimes at the CID headquarters John Kariuki yesterday said 99.9 per cent of the DNA test results by the government confirmed the body is Yebei’s.
The witness was abducted last December.
Kamau said a postmortem would be carried out before the body is released to the family for burial.
“Once the postmortem is done the family will be free to collect the body for burial,” he said on the phone yesterday.
DNA tests done in South Africa indicated the body is Yebei’s.
The family said it has started burial arrangements.
Yebei’s brother, Ben, said he will travel to Voi for the postmortem before the body is taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary in Eldoret.
“We are somehow relieved that we have found our brother although he is dead,” he said.
Ben said Yebei may be buried next week at Kaptebee village near Turbo.
Human rights activists, among them Ken Wafula, said they will be involved in the burial plans and ensure Yebei’s killers are prosecuted.
Yebei went missing on December 28 at Turbo market, Uasin Gishu county, where he had taken his sick child for treatment.
His wife, Lillian, said the family has gone through a lot of suffering while searching for him.
