ZULU KING RAISES CONCERN OVER RURAL DEVELOPMENT AT MEETIG WITH PRESIDENT ZUMA

PRETORIA, Zulu King Goodwill Goodwill Zwelithini has expressed concerns about the slow pace of development in rural areas. He said this after meeting with President Jacob Zuma here Thursday.

The king, who is on private business in Pretoria, took advantage of his trip to pay President Zuma a courtesy call. During the informal meeting, the king spoke about rural development and urged Zuma to fast-track the issue.

To me, being King of the Zulu nation, there are some certain things that I have to share with him concerning rural development and as he has assigned ministers from day one, he took the position of being head of government. So now, seeing how things around our country concerning even rural development, we are all interested in seeing our economy rising up.

The monarch also expressed his disappointment in what he referred to as unpatriotic media failing to sell South Africa abroad.

President Zuma says he was honoured by the king’s visit because it gave him time to discuss broadly on general issues.

We had time to talk about our matters as people who are very close to one another and to check on our health on both sides and the situation generally. His Majesty was also keen just to see me given the situation this time around so that he could be able to see me. I am very happy. This is one of the most important visits by His Majesty and I feel very good.”
