Free State MEC for Sport and Bleom Water CEO appear in court

FREE STATE Free State MEC for Sport, Art, Culture and Recreation Selina Leeto (58) and Bloem Water CEO Dr Limakatso Moorosi (55) appeared in the Bloemfontein Regional Court this morning facing charges of fraud and corruption.

The charges are linked to irregularities in a 2009 tender worth 15-million rand. Leeto was a mayor of the Matjhabeng Municipality at the time while Moorosi was the chief financial officer. It alleged that in 2009 the duo awarded a tender of 15 million to procure photocopy machines, installing of telephone system and CCTV cameras for the municipality without following tender processes and also allegedly received kickbacks from the company.

Leeto was arrested before on this matter and the case was withdrawn after her lawyers made a presentation. The charges were reinstated after extensive investigations. The pair handed themselves over to the Hawks Offices in Bloemfontein yesterday.

They were released on warning and warned to appear at the Bloemfontein High Court on the 02 March 2018 for a pre-trial.
