Lichtenburg FCS Unit extends a helping hand to a family

LICHTENBURG – The Rabanye family has been living in a four room RDP house at Phataima Section, Bodibe Village near Itsoseng.
A 62-year-old Mrs Rabanye who is a blind pensioner, takes care of her 30-year-old son.
Members of the Lichtenburg Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit, visited the family while investigating a rape case in 2014. The members were touched by the poor living conditions of the family.
On Thursday, 27 August 2020, the members visited the victim and found them in the same poor living conditions. They took it upon themselves to engage with RE A AGA FOUNDATION under the leadership of Mr Nkoliswa Motseleng, Itumeleng Mokoma and Olehile Vilakazi, a radio presenter at Mmabatho Fm and other business owners. They responded eagerly upon being requested to donate some furniture to the family. As a result, a bed, wardrobe and stove were donated. A Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) called “Bua Mo Afrika” also assisted with the cleaning of the house on Friday, 4 September 2020, the same day the furniture was handed over to the family.
The neighbours and the family appreciated the efforts by the SAPS and the donors.
