Life sentence for Mondlo murderer

The Madadeni High Court convicted and sentenced Mcedisi Happy Bici (34) to life imprisonment for murder and fifteen years imprisonment for robbery. The accused was sentenced on Friday, 26 October 2018 after the court heard how he killed Busisiwe Margaret Mdlalose (28) at Mondlo area.

On 14 September 2017, the victim Busisiwe Mdlalose from Mondlo left her homestead to see her client at Nkande area, Nquthu. The victim worked for an insurance company and did not return home. A local herdsman in the area saw a man and a woman walking down towards the river in the area but he did not suspect anything. Later the man walk back alone from the river. On the following day, children who were playing near the river spotted a human body floating in the river and contacted police.

An inquest docket was opened for investigation however following an investigation it was found that she was strangled and her body was thrown into the river. The inquest docket was changed to murder. Following a rigorous investigation by detectives, the accused was arrested and linked to the killing of the victim. A cellphone and a bag belonging to the victim were found in his possession.
