News: Multi-Disciplinary Operations remove guns, drugs and liquor off the streets of Hanover Park

Creating a Safer Festive Season period in Hanover Park, Philippi police are giving criminals a hard time blow as multi-disciplinary operations continue taking drugs, guns and liquor off the streets and bringing perpetrators to book.

Last night (2018-12-20) at about 23:00 police seized a large quantity of ammunition at a house in Surie Walk Hanover Park. A 39 year old female is facing charges of illegal possession of ammunition after police acted on information which led them to a house in Surie Walk, Hanover Park.

Meanwhile a 24 year old female suspect is facing a charge of illegal possession of drugs after police confiscated a large quantity of drugs such as tik, mandrax and heroin at a house in Lansport Road, Hanover Park. The estimated street value of the drugs is R8000.

Police confiscated liquor at a well-known illegal liquor outlet in Surran Road as well as Recife Court and Mentz Court, Hanover Park. The estimated value of the 120 000ml liquor amounts to R3000. Two suspects’ 30 year old (male) and 31 year female are facing charges of dealing in liquor without license.

In Lansburg Road Hanover Park, police arrested a 24 year old male for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition as well as the illegal possession of drugs. The suspect was found in possession of a .45 Taurus Pistol with a magazine and ammunition as well as a small quantity of drugs.

Members also seized an air rifle at a premises in Sherwood Walk Close, Hanover Park. No arrest was made. Police investigation continue

The arrested suspects are due to appear in the Athlone Magistrates Court on Monday, 24 December 2018 on the mentioned charges.
