News: Suspect arrested with mandrax tablets wort R43 000 in Bishop Lavis

A 30-year-old suspect will appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrates Court on a charge of possession of drugs tomorrow following his arrest on Saturday, 2019-10-26 by alert Bishop Lavis SAPS members in Bonteheuwel.

The police members were busy with crime prevention duties and routine patrols when they spotted a vehicle of a known gangster. The members gave chase with the driver of the vehicle trying to avoid SAPS who was driving a marked police vehicle.

The car suddenly stopped in Turksvy Street, Bonteheuwel, and the suspect jumped out and ran with SAPS members in pursuit. Whilst running the suspect threw a parcel on the side of the road. He was subsequently arrested. The parcel that was found contained 1003 units of mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R43 000.
