Robbery accused sentenced: Port Elizabeth

KING WILLIAM’S TOWN: In less than a month, a robbery accused was arrested, found guilty and sentenced in the Port Elizabeth Regional court.

On 7 October 2019 at 17:00, the 37-year-old complainant was walking in Armeria Crescent in Ext 30 in Bethelsdorp with her son when the accused Lucaine Coetzee approached them with a knife. A cellphone and a small amount of cash was taken. Coetzee was apprehended by the complainant’s fiance.

On Thursday, 24/10 Coetzee was sentenced to 8 years imprisonment.

Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga welcomed the sentencing as robbery is a common problem in area.
