News: Three suspects arrested and hijacked vehicle recovered

FREE STATE – Parkweg Police tracing unit working together with K9, Flying squad and highway patrol reacted on information about a hijacked Toyota Bakkie in Khayelitsha. While patrolling, members came across the silver VW polo used by the suspect and a chase ensued.

The suspects tried to shake off the police but were cornered after they entered into an open garage at a house in Mangaung. In their vehicle, members found the firearm used in the commission of a crime and cellphones belonging to the victim.

The hijacked vehicle was also recovered after it was found in the East end industrial area. The suspects aged 40, 29 and 34, were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm, possession of suspected stolen vehicle, hijacking and possession of stolen goods. They will appear in court soon.

Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the suspects is linked to more than 10 cases of hijacking in the Mangaung area.
