President Ramaphosa Arrives in Egypt for African Union Meeting

El-Alamein:President Cyril Ramaphosa has arrived in Egypt to take part in the 8th African Union Mid-Year Coordination Meeting.

According to South African Government News Agency, the meeting, scheduled for Sunday, October 4, will see President Ramaphosa participating in his role as Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community. The event will bring together various leaders, including Heads of State and Government of the AU Bureau, Chairpersons of Regional Economic Communities, and heads of AU organs. Development partners such as the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the African Development Bank will also be present.

This mid-year meeting offers a platform for Regional Economic Communities' Chairpersons to discuss the progress of continental integration, which is a significant element in achieving the goals outlined in Agenda 2063. The meeting will evaluate the Division of Labour's implementation status between the AU, Regional Economic Communities, Regional Mechanisms, and Member States to enhance coordination and resource management, as noted by the Presidency.

President Ramaphosa is accompanied by Ronald Lamola, the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, and Parks Tau, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition.
