Provincial integrated team successes

In pursuit SAPS’s mission to ensure that offenders are brought to book and firearm are taken off the streets, members attached to the Provincial Integrated Team arrested several suspects on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

On Sunday 2021-03-07 about 02:00 members of the team were on patrol at Delft, Leyden area, when they were approached by a woman who was complaining about a man who stabbed her. The members immediately attended to the complaint and when they were about 50 metres to reach the place the complainant pointed the suspect and he attempted to run but the members managed to catch him. The members arrested a 22-year-old suspect and found a Pistol with seven rounds in his possession.

On Saturday 2021-03-06 at around 01:00 members attached to the Provincial Integrated Team conducted a special operation to address Extortion in Delft and while doing stop and searches they pulled off a Datsun vehicle. The suspect was inside with his girlfriend, and on further inspection they found a pistol with 14 rounds. The suspect is a taxi owner from Kraaifontein, Bloekombos and its alleged he was escaping an imminent threat from other taxi organisations.

Both suspects will soon appear in in the Bellville Magistrates Court on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

In an unrelated matter on 2021-03-06 at about 01:30 SAPS members were on patrol duties in T-block Honono Crescent Site B when they saw three suspicious looking men standing on the corner of the street and when they saw the police vehicle fled the scene. Members gave chase and caught up with one of the males who was found to be in possession of a firearm of which the serial number was removed and three rounds of live ammunition. The 32-year-old suspect was arrested and once charged will appear in court on charges of unlawful possession of a prohibited firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.
