Robbery suspect nabbed whilst committing another case

DURBAN – It is alleged on 10 June 2020 at 14:00, a couple was driving a vehicle on the Toll Gate Bridge, N3 west bound when their vehicle broke down.
Whilst they were busy with their vehicle, they were approached an unknown man who pointed a firearm and robbed them of a cellphone. The police officers from the Durban Flying Squad and Umbilo Task Team immediately responded to the scene. A 36-year-old suspect was placed under arrest while attempting to flee. The suspect was found in possession of the complainant’s cellphone and a gas gun.
The investigation was conducted and linked the suspect to another case of business robbery reported earlier on. It is alleged the suspect entered the tuck-shop situated at King Dinizulu Road and held the victim threatening to shoot him. A gunpoint he took cash from the till and fled the scene. The suspect is appearing today in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on charges of armed robbery and business robbery.
