Six men arrested by flying squad members for hijacked vehicle and illegal possession of lobster tails

Maitland Flying Squad members strategically deployed to do crime prevention patrols on the R300, saw a Honda Ballade driving past recklessly.  Members tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver sped off. Police gave chase and vehicle went through a wall on corner of Old Paarl Road and the R300, Brackenfell thereby coming to a stop.  Three suspects, aged 18, 23 and 25 were arrested. Upon searching the vehicle police found an imitation firearm and later discovered that the car was reported as hijacked in Phillipi East.

In another incident, Maitland Flying Squad members followed up on information in Grassy Park, pulled over a vehicle and conducted a search. Members found 1106 lobster tails in the vehicle worth an estimated street value of R11060-00. Three suspects aged 21, 24 and 29 were arrested for possession of lobster tails.

The arrested suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
