Three wanted suspects arrested

QUMBU – Three male suspects with outstanding warrants of arrest were traced successfully and arrested yesterday, 14 March 2021 at about 20:00.

The Tactical Response Team deployed at Qumbu received information about the whereabouts of suspects wanted for attempted murders, robbery with aggravated circumstances, Possession of prohibited unlicensed firearm in the area of Qumbu and Tsolo areas.

Police followed information and proceeded to Qumbu CBD where they arrested a male suspect for a robbery with aggravated circumstances with a case opened at Madeira SAPS in October 2020

Two suspects were arrested for a Qumbu case of attempted murder that was opened at Tsolo in March 2021. Additional charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and possession of prohibited firearm were added after they were found in possession of an illegal firearm.

All three suspects aged between 26 and 33 are expected to appear in the Qumbu Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 15 March 2021 facing their respective charges.

The Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga welcomed the arrest saying every firearm recovered is a step in making Eastern Cape free of illegal weapons.
