Two men to appear in the Mitchell’s Plain court

WESTERN CAPE – Police members attached to Mitchell’s Plain participating in efforts to ensure a safer festive season, on Friday 27 November 2020 were doing crime prevention patrols in Morgenster Road, Beacon Valley when they spotted a group of suspicious looking men. The police had received information that the suspects were targeting community members on their way to work. When the members approached them they ran. Police arrested a 31-year-old man and he was found in possession of a 9mm pistol with 12 rounds of ammunition.

Meanwhile, on 26 November 2020 at about 08:00 members attached to the Mitchells Plain crime prevention unit were executing another routine vehicle patrol in Cathedral Street, Tafelsig when they noticed a suspicious looking man walking down the street. When he spotted the members he ran. The police apprehended the 24-year-old man. Upon searching him they found tik, heroin and mandarx worth a substantial amount in his possession.

Both men will appear in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrates’ court on Monday, 30 November 2020 on charges relating to possession of prohibited firearm and possession of drugs.
