GQEBERHA – Back-to-school Roadshow resumed in Nelson Mandela Bay Metro today, 29 March 2021, with involvement of different critical stakeholders who are committed to ensure positive upbringing and development of every child, so as to positively shape society.

A visit to Fumisukoma Primary and Mfesane Senior Secondary Schools in Motherwell, Gqeberha aimed at sensitizing learners about different issues relating to criminality. Theft, bullies, substance abuse and gender based violence formed part of agenda of the day.

Mr Brian Davids, who represented Department of Correctional Services, took platform to sensitise learners about the tough life in Correctional Centres. His presentation illustrated the actual living of inmates.

Local Community Policing Forum were pleased to be part of the initiative, and further pledged to sustain the programme and relations between different role-players in ensuring safety and well-being of children in and out of schools.

Educators and parents were urged to play their critical role in social crime prevention, as fighting crime is everyone’s responsibility. They were also advised to change society’s attitude and behaviour through children’s development.

Respective school management appreciated the effort, and characterized the initiative as an educational programme that has a potential of changing children’s attitude and behaviour.

The roadshow team is expected to visit more schools around Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.
